Seed Dispersal: Traveling Seeds, pt. 1

Here’s a simple page about seed dispersal that can help students prepare for a field trip focused on these fascinating plant adaptations.  Even if the field trip is merely to the nearby park or a well-landscaped schoolyard, there’s much to be learned about coevolution, natural selection, and design principles when attention is directed towards seed dispersal.  Alternately, the page can be used for debriefing or quiet reflection following a walk outside, especially a walk taking place in autumn.

The essential point is that young people begin to appreciate the amazing and varied strategies that living creatures have evolved to insure life’s continuity.
